I already have some framed...I had to go back and buy them, as I had already gotten rid of my albums years ago....I have some that really meant something to me...Dan Fogelberg Souvenirs and Netherlands...(unfolded....lyrics showing...they do have double frames you know!)and Phoenix...A couple of Jackson Browne-Saturate, Late For the Sky, Hold Out....Stevie Ray Vaughan-Couldn't Stand the Weather...Bob Dylan-Slow Train Coming-more for the artwork, than the album....Yngwie Malmsteen-Trilogy...I just LOVE the artwork of the guitar player against a fire-breathing dragon:
I know it's cliche, but this one is great. http://home.att.net/~chuckayoub/Abbey_Road.jpg And I like this, though not a cover(inside?). I've seen a huge, slightly different framed version of this I like. http://rundeautochat.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/led-zeppelin.jpg (broken link)
All three were created by the lead guitarist, John Squire, who did the artwork for all their albums and singles. He's since given up music (damn shame - he was an awesome guitarist) to focus on his art.
I've also always liked this one from XTC. It's not very "artsy" but it is quite clever.
Zephyr ~~ Sunset Ride ~~ 1972.
Back then, vintage travel art was not so popular as it is today. I saw Zephyr perform several times.
By the time they recorded Sunset Ride, Tommy Bolin had left, but Zephyr still had a great sound, sort of blues/rock/jazz fusion.
I was 17 when this album (vinyl, of course) came out, still have it, but it's not framed--I still play it.
I think they might have finally made this album into a CD.
In the hallway of one house, we framed the covers that had a predominance of 'red' in the cover because that was the accent color in the house. Some were just solid colors with a name, like an Eric Clapton album, or all white with just a red item on the cover, like an Elton John Album. But, by far, my favorite album cover is Bob Dylan and and the Band's "The Basement Tapes" A double album with one huge photo taken by Annie Lebovitz and used in four sections inside and out. These are the photos of the outside of the album front and back and there are two more sections on the inside of the album that flow with these to make one huge long photo.
