I know they don't sell "albums" anymore, but what is your favorite album cover. I think one of my favorites is the "Band on the Run" album cover by Paul McCartney and Wings. Simple, but very well done. Loved James Coburn and Christopher Lee on the cover of an album...
Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper, The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper---The only known time Norman Rockwell himself painted (from photographs of the two musicians Rockwell himself photographed) the cover portrait for a pop, rock, or blues album, a portrait Rockwell himself called "The Blues Singers.
The original portrait now belongs to Al Kooper himself (Mike Bloomfield died in 1983), after it hung for years in the offices of Columbia Records.
And here's one of the best performances from that album . . .
