Exactly.

Should be renamed "Music Hall of Fame"....as many inductees have had little to do with Rock and Roll...

Reasons an artist is probably "not rock":

Doesn't get played on rock stations. Gets played on non-rock stations.

Doesn't self-identify as rock. Self-identifies as something else.

In case of conflict, I'd generally lean non-rock, but think as you wish.

Took Chaka Khan a quarter of a century to get inducted!

I'd put The Sequence (the first hip hop female group, which included Angie Stone), Lady B, Salt N' Pepa, MC Lyte and Roxanne Shante before Missy.

Bernie Taupin......Ok, but still, no Linda Creed!

In general, most awards ceremonies are meaningless, vapid wastes of time that do nothing to honor true quality in movies, TV, books, or music. They are the adult elitist equivalent of the "cool kids" table in Junior High. It's time to grow up. If you want to be at the cool kids table, you are by definition not cool.

Inductees in the RaRHoF are nominated by a few individuals who are not musicians. It is simply a way to sell tickets and line the pockets of a bunch of rich people. It is the antithesis of rock and roll.

The Sex Pistols were right.

Rock is supposed to be rebelious and anti-government, but most artists you post here are lifelong followers of the Democratic party, like Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne and Neil Young.

In the music industry you'll be hard pressed to find Repulican artists.

Elvis
Easy E (NWA is in)

But do folk really think that artists are/are not in the RRHOF due to political affiliation.......?

Like a lot of other Halls of Fame, it is a joke because of how watered down it is…. a hall of “pretty good for a short period of time” but make no lasting impression. And yet, someone thinks they should share the same place as Presley, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elton John, etc.

And to take this particular Hall of “fame” further, almost every year there are inductees I’ve either never heard of, or couldn’t tell you even one song they did.

I am not so sure that is what rock is supposed to be. But, with that being said, Rage Against The Machine ABSOLUTELY fits that definition. Also, I am pretty sure a singer/band's political affiliation is not one of the contributing factors to determine if they are enshrined.

Of course you can find them. Maybe you just arent looking hard enough. Elvis, Eazy-E, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, LL Cool J, Kelly Clarkson, 50 Cent, most country singers, etc. I think it could also be that most who follow that groups views, dont usually subscribe to and/or pursue artistic endeavors like music, theater, arts, etc. Not say always, just say not usually.

Exactly. I don't know how this isn't self-evident.

RRHOF induction ceremonies are guaranteed clickbait argument starters. I think they love that that happens.

The only recent true win was when Rush (and Heart, can't forget them) were finally inducted. They were announced at the very end of the list, for good reason: the crowd went nuts!
