That would be Ray Thomas, who had to retire from the band for health reasons. Noted flute work by Ray is evident in "Tuesday Afternoon" as well as "Legend In A Mind".
Chris Wood's best work IMO was on Traffic's John Barleycorn Must Die album, released in late 1970. The songs? The title track and "Glad/Freedom Rider" (they run together). Good sax work by Chris regarding "Glad."
The modern psych/rock band Mercury Rev had a flute player on their first couple of albums.
Also, the heavy modern psych/rock band Bardo Pond's lead singer Isobel often uses a flute, but it's frequently buried under avalanches of fuzzed out guitars.
