It seems people generally have strong opinions regarding movie musicals. They either LOVE them OR HATE them. I LOVE some movie musicals and HATE others.

My Fair Lady is my favorite. When I was a kid, my mother and I would stay up and watch old movies on TV. Often they were musicals. Good times. Good memories.
LOVE The Sound of Music LOVE Beauty and the Beast....though that was a movie first, but it's still my favorite! (Kid at heart...what can I say?!)
LIKE The Phantom of the Opera (I'm guessing if I saw it on Broadway vs the movie version it would top my list...but the movie version according to my friend whose seen it on Broadway was disappointing...so it hits my LIKE list.)
I've never been a great fan of musicals ( and loathe most of them) but I love "My Fair Lady" , I know all the words to all the tunes ! I also greatly enjoyed "Mamma Mia" (the film) as an ABBA fan and there was such a sense of pure joy in the movie that I could cope with it being a musical... Just about.
