On Wednesday we went to the movies and saw The Big Short. My opinion (yes, we all know what that's worth ) is that only those who went into the theater with a clue, left with one. Would love to hear what others think about this particular subject. (We gave that 5 stars.)
We then came home and (from our personal collection) watched And So It Goes - it was okay, I guess. (3 stars.)
Followed tout suite by The Martian. (5 stars again.)
Favorite movie of the twenty-nine that we've watched this month (Dec 15th - Jan 15th) is A WALK IN THE WOODS starring Bob Redford, Nick Nolte (as Katz - I LOVE Katz, LOL!), and Emma Thompson. Haven't laughed so hard since Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - if we don't count Billy Connolly's stand up comedy shows. (We gave this movie ten stars out of a possible five - it deserves it! - Think Katniss Everdeen.)
P.S. On a more serious note, Far From The Madding Crowd was outstanding. Definitely 5 stars there! (We need a star emoticon/emoji. How 'bout it?)
Okay, maybe no more of a movie than a classic Dr. Who story is a movie, but at 90 (the ABC listing) minutes (okay, it finished at 67 minutes without commercials, a very short tv movie but still...........), I see it as one. Having bought the entire 2nd Thriller (not Boris K.) series, it's the first of about 67 flicks to pick from. Part of my Horror Friday, this one proceeded by a Night Gallery.
As far as ratings, so far, so good........but it helps if one appreciates the writing of 40 years ago.
If you are going to see it, SKIP the imdb entry above. As usual the synopsis gives away far too many minutes in just a few words.

Backcountry -Couple gets lost on a nature hike in an aggressive bears territory. Quite scary, considering this type of thing happens to people in real life.
The Revenant, The Bridge of Spies and Mad Max: Fury Road. There were all decent movies, but I expected a lot more. The Big Short is my favorite of the Oscar nominees so far. I have not seen Carol, Brooklyn and Spotlight yet.
From The Earth To The Moon(1958)- Joseph Cotten, George Sanders
