The Babadook on netflix. So-so horror film. The child screaming and screeching the whole way through the movie was annoying. The ending was uninspired IMO.
The pop-up book Mister Babadook was a truly memorable and creepy dramatic devise though.
This film is bewildering. The plot is extremely thin... two guys talking while driving, eating and walking. Much of the dialog is Rob Brydon talking over Steve Coogan with voice impersonations.
They have some relationship issues, but those are not brought to conflict or resolution. It's an understatement to say the movie ends abruptly.
We did laugh a few times and some of the landscape shots are gorgeous.
The Road to the NHL Winter Classic (2015) - Netflix
I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing sports documentaries I have ever seen.
We waited about 3 hours and 15 minutes to see some highlights from the revered Classic. Creating an outdoor rink is a massively complicated task, and getting an understanding of the process was impossible here. I don’t even recall seeing NHL ice wizard Dan Craig, let alone a helpful soundbite from him. The well-received miniature White House built for the game was never mentioned, and only seen briefly from an aerial view of Nationals Park. I had to find news articles and watch YouTube videos to learn more.
If you really like hockey, you need to go into this miniseries realizing that it primarily focuses on “The Road” angle: an inside look at the players’ lives and their games leading up to the big event. Be prepared for a high level of sports cliches.
Me and my girlfriend watched The Age of Adeline at the theater last night. Even though I guess it would be considered a "chick flick", I found it very good and it had my girlfriend in tears once we got the car, although it had a happy ending.
