I agree. I think it should have won best picture, but it did win best foreign film in a year with very strong competition, most notably Cold War.

Watched Come Hell Or High Water last night. Got it for a heck of a price from Amazon. Have been a Jeff Bridges fan for a long time, Chris Pine and Ben Foster turn in a great job as well.

We saw Madea’s Family Funeral. It’s funny parts hit hard but they were few and far in between.

Saw “What Men Want” with Taraji Henson
Some parts of it were worthwhile as social commentary
Henson is a good actress but this was more cartoon than she deserves
I love Erykah Badu as the psychic “Sister”
Didn’t recognize her with the wig and overflowing dress...
She should do more film/tv work...

I am this close to ditching my The Criterion Channel subscription (it hasn't launched yet, but I am unable to see the advance films they have every week due to errors) and signing up for netflix, the only way I would see Roma (and many others).

It actually had some really heartfelt and touching scenes. I like that it was based on a true story. I really admire people who foster and adopt children -- or, I should say, the decent people who do.

"Arctic" director Joe Penna 9/10 better that most out there
Starring Mads Mikkelsen
Really compelling, iconic survival story
Well shot on location--no back story just carved out of the experience
Hard to watch at times for the reality of the pain he undergoes
