I have the dvd and had seen it when it was first out. 50/50 on the reviews but I still think it is one of the funniest movies I've seen. I do admit to having a sophomoric sense of humor on occasion. Admittedly it is funnier to watch than to read.
(Melissa McCarthy) All right, let's hit the road, okay?
(Sandra Bullock) I've got to change.
(Melissa McCarthy) What's the matter with your pantsuit?
(Sandra Bullock) It's pajamas.
(Melissa McCarthy) Well excuse the $*** out of me, I didn't realize you slept in a ****ing tux.
Go ahead, get your top hat.
We went over and had lunch with some friends at their home and I noticed she had a dvd of bel canto and she asked me if we had seen it and I said No I have not . we watched it and omg what an awesome movie took me totally by surprise and I was floored . Really good movie .
Just watched Bladerunner 2048. If you liked the original you may like this one. I did. We also watched Wonder, a film about a family with a child who is extraordinary. This one was a wonderful family movie. Recommend both.
Last night I watched two movies, both of which were very well reviewed...
Blindspotting, which wasn't too good. The movie concept was social gentrification is northern CA which actually has some personal relevance for me. There were moments that were vaguely interesting and the concept/theme of the movie was good, but the director/writer's sense of humor was disparate from mine and it was essentially a comedy. The acting was good, but the plot and main characters drift and their behavior is just a lot of the times, dumb. 2 our of 5 stars.
8th grade, which was a phenomenal movie. Very realistic look at middle school/high school and the acting of the lead character was phenomenal. It doesn't just rehash the old themes of teen hierarchy (though that is in there). The actions and mindset of Kayla were so realistic, it brought me back to my days of adolescence, not knowing what to say or do, and the things that seemed so important in my life at the moment. The social media theme was also very well done. And the interactions with the father are extremely well done. You sympathize so much with the lead character because she's so realistic and likeable. You almost want to hug her. If you went to middle/senior high school in the states, go see it. 5 out of 5 stars.
A Star is Born 7/10
It was a little slow. However, the acting was amazing. Cooper, GaGa and Sam Elliott could win Oscars for their performances. The soundtrack is good too.
No Country for Old Men; now I need to find a copy of the book.
That is a lot harder read than u might think
I thought the movie was great adaptation
McCarthy forces the reader to get granular when he uses no punctuation
