Paul Newman played Earl Long, the brother of Huey Long, in a different movie about that governor's life. I think my reference was that Crawford was a more convincing actor in the role of governor of Louisiana than Newman was.

Hope that clarifies what I was talking about.

it seems all the films mentioned are american.

isabelle adjani in 'story of adele'. tragic but excellent portrayal of unrequited love. i enjoy some french movies.
