Even in the '60s, Bond's behavior was not seen as okay. The Bond films were seen by the more conservative as salacious and immoral. And it was largely due to the sex, not violence. But there was also a tacit understanding among some that "boys will be boys" so that they looked the other way when everyone knew this kind of stuff was going on.

Isn't that the norm now? All the woke reviews who are purchased by the studios give it good reviews so it will do well at the box office?
Not buying it.
..........smile..........
Me, the way I see it, since the changed the franchise back at Casino Royale, whatever they say about it, is meaningless to me. I'll accept that it is great, in the definition that Craig has been acting in........but that's what makes horse races.

The original Military Intelligence units have changed over time, however there is an over view here -

Well, we are talking about BOND where MI means Military Intelligence......are we not?
As far as the other, I'm not impressed with it.
Seriously, I watched about 5 minutes of the 2nd one, when they were on the airplane, cutting each other down, and turned it off! This was the team that worked together to save us from the evils of the world?
^ that’s the 6th one I think. The 2nd was way back in 2000, two decades ago, and it’s the best so far.
Well, that's how far back I would have been watching it and if that's the best they've got, we-ll.........
........in this case, Bond may be fortunate to be not in the same boat. Mission Impossible I know from the TV series, both of them (which I have of course), from which my judgement of the movies is based.
Bond only has the former movies and books......and the books don't account for much in relation to the movies.
Still, the former movies influence a lot which is what killed the franchise for me. When they took Bond, even in a reboot, from an experienced intelligence agent to a kid in a candy store, he was no longer Bond. They not only took him too far back but they changed the entire concept completely and made it "in name only".
Whatever they do to the franchise now, whatever they have done with it since Casino Royale, Bond has been long dead.

Curiously it has only been with Danial Craig that you got an origin story/reboot and a full character arc. Besides a quick trip to his wife's grave the rest of the movies could be just a mission in any order if Bond where immortal.
