I assume you've seen Cary Grant's screwball comedies? Bringing Up Baby, My Favorite Wife, and His Girl Friday are wonderful. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House hasn't aged as well, but is still fun. And of course there are his two films with Alfred Hitchcock: Suspicion and Notorious, which are must-sees.

Have you seen Robert Mitchum's work? Out of the Past, Cape Fear, and The Night of the Hunter are all excellent.

Turner Classic Movies and The Criterion Channel are probably your best sources for streaming old movies. But a significant number of them are only available on DVD, which makes subscribing to NetFlix's DVD rental service to be worthwhile.

Thanks for the info. I plan to watch all those movies on Netflix DVD rental. I just love those old movies because they are great and the acting is good. Why do you watch them? Nostalgia?

Watch TCM. You can easily sort by genre or actor. The intros and comments by Ben Mankiewicz and colleagues are interesting. I can stream the TCM app through my Sony TV or roku. The subscription comes with my internet/tv provider. No additional charge.

TCM changes the movies available. They are not currently showing "A Face in The Crowd", but are showing "All the King's Men", also a wonderful political story about corruption.

I watch them because I love cinema. And a great movie is a great movie, regardless of when it was made - but the passage of time has a way of erasing the not-so-great films that were made in years' past. That's why older films often surpass the current Hollywood stuff. With the passage of time, the cream floats to the top, and the rest is forgotten.

I saw the movie recently. Very powerful. Griffith's acting was amazing. Shows that power can corrupt...

Yes I have seen it twice. The best acting I have seen Griffith do. He also was good in the old classic "Six Characters In Search of An Author" a play by Pirandello. Serious stuff.

My favorite old time actor is Cagney. So versatile.

After you've seen "A Face in the Crowd," you'll never look at an episode of "The Any Griffith Show" the same way again!

I was completely unprepared for how good Andy Griffith was in that role! Excellent movie.

Only part of that movie I liked was the baton twirling sequence.

I have this movie in my collection, and watch it every year. Definitely ahead of its time.
