There is a certain kind of movie star who gets cast for playing himself. A long and proud tradition with some truly movie icons. Did Charlton Heston every play anyone but Charlton Heston? Who cares if Dwayne Johnson will never play Hamlet?

And watching Charlton Heston over-act, like the local mailman performing Hamlet in community theater, is highly entertaining!
I'll add that Clint Eastwood largely falls into the playing-himself category. As is usual, the key is picking the right roles for that limited range which can still yield terrific results.
As for being annoyed, I swear, some people seem to consume media out of some burning desire
to be annoyed. It's weird.
