Yeah, I miss that show. It was a very good resource to have, back in the days before World Wide Interwebs for the Computers.

Yes. I feel like more was at stake with their reviews. It's hard to trust reviewers on the the internet today.

I was surprised by how long they have been on. I saw their review of Taxi Driver, and didn't know they were even a thing back then.

Ebert's reviews were online - 'on the internet' - long before he passed away.

It's not hard to browse various reviews and discern from context who is giving a reasoned and judicious analysis of a film and whether or not it likely jibes with one's own cinematic preferences. The whole "I can't believe something because it's online!" take is absurd.

Taxi Driver came out in 1976. Ebert was reviewing professionally long before that, in the sixties.

I liked their show. Like others here, I thought Ebert's reviews were more balanced than Siskel's.

Are there any reviewers worth reading these days? The Internet has changed the whole game.

I do miss them. I didn't realize that they trademarked the phrase, "Two Thumbs Up."

Obviously, they would have been seasoned professionals by the time they got on TV. I just didn't know they had been on TV that long.

I missed Siskel & Ebert and then later enjoyed Ebert's reviews online (often agreed but not always). I still enjoy reading/rereading his reviews when I watch an older movie.

That would have been the original PBS show before the money started coming in from syndication.

I used to watch Sneak Previews which then became Siskel and Ebert.

I miss Roger Ebert the most as he was my favorite movie critic.
