Trust me, I had my doubts. And for the most part, they've been dispelled by the new trailer.

Explained via VO in the trailer: they've lain in dormancy for decades, "the fever" the Earth unleashes to battle the virus (the human race).

Great posters! I want one! Of all the trailers released today, this was BY FAR my favorite.

The turtle-looking thing in the trailer? Was that Gamera??? Or have they given Mothra a cutesy head? Or dare we fear it might be …

There are many questions to be answered: where is King Kong?

Good question. That's why I'm not as gassed as everyone else over a GvK film. Come on...like Godzilla wouldn't just toast the chimp and serve him with fried plantains?

I think the close-up tight shot was Mothra. Unless it could be...gasp..the SMOG MONSTER! (The eyes reminded me of that guy.)

Same here. I like the idea of the MonsterVerse, but can we have some movies with monsters other than Godzilla and Kong? Maybe even a new monster? Does every upcoming movie have to be a reboot of old kaiju movies?

Having said that, I think they are really missing an opportunity to have Dee Snider play this guy …

Isn't the one with Kong a separate movie from G2?

Kinda/sorta but not really.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND is set in the same Monsterverse, but took place back in the '60s. Godzilla took place in the present day. The next movie in the MonsterVerse after Godzilla: King of Monsters, will be Godzilla vs. Kong.

In fact, if you'll watch the last scene of KONG: SKULL ISLAND, it is a set up for Godzilla: King of Monsters.
