Payback with Mel Gibson. Movie came out senior year of high school. Buddy of mine practically forced a bunch of us to go see it because he sore it looked good. 2 hours later the entire group took away any future movie choosing privileges from him. This was 16 years ago and we still give him grief about this.

Good choices. Had I been managing, I would probably have applauded all of you on your taste while handing out a refund.

(FWIW "concessions" got that term because the right to provide food service in theatres was often leased to an independent company. In some cases the workers didn't even get on the theatre payroll, but were paid by the concessionaire.)

"B.A.P.S." (1997)

I didn't see it in theaters but rented it on VHS. It was so bad that I watched about 15 min. and then took it back to the video store and demanded a full refund or else I was gonna "cause a scene". They refunded me in full.

That movie was so horrible that Halle Berry should have her Oscar statue rescinded as compensation for her lead role in BAPS --- and I actually think Halle Berry is a very talented actress!

The Counselor (2013) was a huge surprise. (Not a pleasant one).
I'd seen the trailers and read descriptions and the way I remember them, they were much softer than the movie, (quite the opposite of how most trailers show their "The Highlights")..

I'm upset that it was less the action-drama movie I'd expect from director Ridley Scott, and more like a Tarantino shock-flick showcase of torture & kill special-effects by some really twisted characters.
Worse, it seemed like the plot was written to justify showing the violence and torture, rather than those being a part of the plot. And some of the violence was taken to levels beyond my belief. Some of the things the mob did seemed like it would be, overall, very bad for business. Without getting into spoilers, they scare away future investors, and were way too public. Sure to cause backlash.

My friend's mom did this for the Sylvester Stallone Judge Dread, but not on purpose. She hated that movie. She just went on about what a piece of crap it was. The theater owner overheard her complaint about the movie and gave her a few free passes.
