The reviews are horrid. Most books are hard to translate to screen. This one especially, the casting doesn't help.

I sure hope so, who wants to see 2 more made? It's really telling when the main characters say they don't want their families to see it. I bet they feel they just made a porn movie, which they just did.

their families didn't want to see it because of they would be watching their children in a sexual way. just like I doubt you would want to see your child or your parents doing sexual things. I doubt seriously it was because they were ashamed of them. this is not a porno it goes sexually to a place that hasn't been seen by the mainstream movie goer, but not a porno

It's a steamy movie that unless you have an open family (I don't exactly think with the pre-nuptial agreement and divorce Melanie Grifith and Don Johnson had were with Dakota) you won't want them to see it. It's rather graphic and even though they are actors, you can't help but see your son or daughter and not Christian and Anna.

As for the sequels, sadly it's because of the popularity. The trailer for 50 Shades of Grey beat out Star Wars: The Force Awakens on views for 2014 trailers. Now yes, 50 Shades was out for say six months, Star Wars had their for one but it is STILL a huge victory. I think it is trash and looks too stereotypical and theatrical released Skinamax but there are women who want to see this as much as I want to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tomorrowland, Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I may not agree but clearly there is a market for this film because it is the highest pre-sale rated-R movie in Fandango movies history. The tell will be if 50 Shades has legs and don't have a huge drop off and how much a drop off 50 Shades Darker will have.

Reviews of the book are even worse than those of the movie. It is not like it is a literary masterpiece. It is drivel or porn dressed up a tad for women.

Despite how awful the reviews are, I'm sure it will do well at the box office. Pretty sad.

This movie is a dud. Another film that should not have made it to the big screen. Don't waste your time or money. Highly sexual, overly sexual, perverse with nothing to offer. Everything that makes a movie a movie is missing in this movie. No thrill, no action, no adventure, no drama, no suspense, no romance, no horror, no entertainment...nada. This movie has poor dialogue, crappy communication, no purpose, no understanding, no story to tell, no plot, and no substance. Awful movie.

I thought Mr. Grey would kill Ana through strangulation or excessive pain and torture. Then he would use his billionaire money to hire the best lawyer and judge to pay his way out of a murder. Then the Mrs. Robinson character would show up and crack the case by revealing some truths about Mr. Grey sadistic character and confess he has killed before during similar acts. Then his business and reputation would crumble. Sorry, but none of this happened. Actually nothing happened.

This movie had the buzz of the books as well as the risque trailers and promotion of the movie. As well as the success of Nicolas Sparks books, the Twilight movies and The Hunger Games movies. It's like wondering why we had a bunch of comic book based movies after X-Men and Spiderman were box office blockbusters. Me as I've said othertimes I wasn't sold on it.

Sounds like an else-world version of the story or a take-off that you may see on Lifetime in a year or two that was "inspired by" this book and movie as well as real life events. I am calling it already. We'll see a 50 Shades like movie just as you described on Lifetime by mid 2017 the latest.

Fifty Shades of Dull

I couldn't be more pleased to hear the movie sucked. Even my daughter said she wasted money going.
