I've never seen his (former) appeal. I think I've only liked one movie of his (The Patriot), and I think that was actually a case of liking the movie in spite of him. lol

There was a rumor of another Mad max and lethal weapon a few years ago but they failed to materialize. There is a market for older action heroes in film. Arnold, Stallone, Van Damme and Lundgren are still making movies. There will always be an audience, People love seeing the familiar faces still defeating bad guys.

He was really good in two recent movies (Get the Gringo & The Beaver).
Hell, I liked him even in Machete Kills (awesome fun but probably more enjoyable if you are under 20yo, a little retarded, a little drunk or high).

I guess he is in The Expendables 3 as well!

There is a new Mad Max movie coming out. But no Gibson. It's a remake.

Lethal Weapon is one of those movies I loved when I was 13, but then I grew up and realized it's a really bad movie.

Mel is a talented guy, but his recent behavior has made him sort of a pariah in Hollywood.

Well, taste is subjective. I guess you didn't like Braveheart or Apocolypto? Those were amazing movies to me. Definitely big films that appealed to many. Mel Gibson, like many highly creative individuals, suffers from some mental issues. I don't like Sean Penn's politics, but I still like many of his movies. Same with Mel Gibson.

Ditto. As for his personal life, Gibson seems like a bit of a loon to me, but he's made some great movies. Same with Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, and lots of others. I don't have to agree with a person's politics or personal views to enjoy their movies. If I did, I probably wouldn't be able to watch any movies.

Maybe Mel could star in Woody Allen's next movie. Then I'd have two reasons to not see it.
