Are you guys mixing up classics with independent horror films? Just curious.
Personally, I was just listing ones I like. I've seen more horror movies than I can ever remember, so they really have to stand out for me to remember them.
THE CLASSICS:
Psycho
The Haunting of Hill House
The Exorcist
Rosemary's Baby
Night of the Living Dead
Bride of Frankenstein
Carrie
The Shining
Halloween
Friday the 13th
The Howling
An American Werewolf in London
Silence of the Lambs
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)
ALIEN
OTHER GOOD ONES:
The Dead Zone
The Fly (remake from the '80s)
The Thing (both original and remake from the '80s)
Creepshow (great campy fun)
Silver Bullet (good campy fun)
Storm of the Century
Slither
Le Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf)
Fright Night (original from the '80s)
Twilight Zone: The Movie
Psycho II (lacks the first film's brilliance, but still a good thriller)
Prom Night
Critters
Children of the Corn
oh man, silver bullet...i havent seen that movie in ages.
I'd highly recommend watching films with Vincent Price. They're very well done. The ones that were Edgar Allen Poe adaptations and House on Haunted Hill are the best. Though The Raven and Comedy of Terrors aren't really horror films.
I Walked With a Zombie
Cat People (original)
Wait Until Dark
Isle of the Dead
Nosferatu
The Fog (original)
House of Usher
House of Wax
The Pit and the Pendulum
And don't forget the original Dracula, Wolf Man, Frankenstein, The Mummy ...
Does FEARNET have a decent selection of films to start off with, for a novice?
I checked their TV listings, and honestly I hadn't even heard of most of those movies. Looks like mostly a B-movie channel that specializes in the B-minus films. Where is Joe Bob Briggs when we need him?
