There's this creepy horror movie I watched as a kid, in the mid-90s, though it could've been made earlier but probably not earlier than 1980. I can't remember the name.
It's about a family that gets lost driving somewhere in a desert-like setting; they have two kids, a boy and a girl, and the boy is playing with a remote control car and ends up wandering away from the rest of the family and stumbling upon this underground place with a scary cult. All the cult members wear black hooded robes and chant and perform ceremonies that turn out to involve child sacrifice, and the cult leader wants to recruit the boy into the cult and get him to bring his younger sister to be sacrificed. The family ends up escaping, and the movie ends with them unwrapping christmas presents at home, and the boy unwraps an unsigned gift with the remote car that he lost in the desert.
That ring a bell for anyone??? I think the name may have had "City of" in it, but don't remember for sure.
