Thought it would be fun, because the group going is the most UNLIKELY group of women you'd expect to go to a movie like this (serious, hyper-educated, rich 30/40+ year-olds)...so I thought I'd ham up the evening a little bit. Just to be silly and have fun.

Sausage balls? LOL!!!!

Please tell me that second post wasn't written with a straight face. I read the reviews, I know better than to pay attention to reviews after the last few fiascos. But just reading the first post and then the second. LMAO. Thanks, I needed that.

Just came back from seeing it. I knew that I shouldn't have high expectations going in, but I was at least hoping to enjoy some of it. The acting was bad, the story was stupid, and the stripping... meh. I wanted to fall asleep through it.

Oh, and Joe Magliano (I know I didn't spell that right) didn't have enough screen time.

There was a time when I would have walked 10 miles in the snow to drink Matthew McConaughey's bathwater. But since he has become sooooooo domesticated, he has lost all his appeal for me.

Funny double standard. If this were about women, I doubt that you would have a 43 year old female stripper on stage.

Won't be seeing it.

Couldn't agree more, it would have been nice if you could care about the characters, but most were pretty repulsive to begin with in how they behaved towards each other. Nice and sensitive my badunkadunk. You want to have threesomes, then be hurt when someone thinks you are just a piece of meat to nibble on for fun. Have to admit, McConaughey, was hilarious in the cut off shirt and shorts scene. Also, throughly enjoyed oogling Tatums glutes.

I disagree.

That movie reminded me of Boogie Nights.

Btw, I know you don't like the characters or what they do, but I know real strippers, and that is how they are...

I was expecting to be disappointed, but I was most pleasantly surprised by Tatum seeming to grow as an actor. I never had much respect for him...

When she played a stripper in The Wrestler, Marisa Tomei was right that around that age. And that hottie of a certain age was still gettin' it done!

I thought the story line was kinda half arsed. But I loved the dancing. I liked they did songs most like. And showed how raunchy they can get. I liked how the they did stripping for the ladies while the college boys were in the room off to the side. I thought Matt M. Was acting like a lune. Yes it was hyped up. And we had dumb girls in the back acting like they were in a real strip joint. Seriously people go to a real one.

Just wanted to say, I was only commenting on what I thought of the character in the movies, not the people and what they do to get to where they need to be in life. I can't throw stones at anyone. Having lived in Tampa, (btw, voted most vain city in the country, LOL) I've probably been in the company of some of those very guys portrayed in the movie. I have had girlfriends that actually brought such guys back home from clubs we went to and I had to listen to some of the guys engage us, no them in conversation, (my mind wander on to something else), so yes, I too know what some of them are like up close and personal. It aint pretty. I don't enjoy strange men putting their junk in my face, but I enjoy watching the guys from afar dance on the big screen. Frankly, compared to what I've seen at some gatherings, that was tame. Also, Tampa is where I first decided to give up on dating ever again. Now I only recyle old boyfriends.

I wouldn't specifically choose this particular movie, but I am looking forward to the company of the group. Plus, we usually catch the first showing in the mornings which is just about half price. The group goes to the movies most every week, there's always something different to choose from if you don't wish to go any given week. Just this was one only the ladies were going to. It really isn't that big of a deal, just having a bit of fun with the whole idea of the movie and wondered who else was getting a laugh about about it.

If anyone wants to take anything about this whole darn thread seriously, that's on you, I'm not going to. Sometimes a gal's just gotta have some fun and that's what this movie is about for me ifen I do decide to sit through it.

Fun with MaJic with a J, Mike

Ahhhhh..ok, got it. The didn't phase me because in your second comment you really sounded like you weren't into these kinds of movies and you sounded like you didn't want to go. Glad you had a good time...that's what counts

You were right to assume, I wouldn't have gone to see it had it not been for me just wanting be out and about having fun with the gals. I figured there wasn't going to be much to enjoy about the script and I was right, but I still had a fun time. Very little of the fun involved the movie. We didn't talk about it before or after, unanimously agreed it was blah seem to be how everyone in the theater felt it was dead quiet at the end. We all thought there was going to at least be a finale of a spectacular end dance, sorta reminded me why I prefer the A's these days.
