Tell that to Kymco, SYM, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, Piaggio, Kawasaki and BMW. They tend to disagree and keep manufacturing Maxi Scooters from 250cc and up.. It's obvious they're must be a market for them else manufacturers wouldn't produce them and sell them around the world. Just because the US is limited in what it imports doesn't mean they're no market. Besides the dollar is worthless now and other countries have higher and lower standards of living. I also forgot to include Australia, and Latin America. Most of my friends that are in the military and stationed overseas tell me they're tons of maxi scooters around the world. Today I saw no motorcycles on the road. I was out and it was 17 F.

Let me reiterate that I have nothing against scooters. I have a 150cc Chinese scooter to thank for getting me into riding in the first place. I spend a few weeks in Mexico every year and my primary way of getting around down there (outside of public transportation) is on a little Suzuki 2 stroke 50cc scooter. I just am still just having alot of difficulty understanding the appeal of maxis. Especially with alternatives like the Honda NC700X DCT (automatic).

I'll admit, I'd like to have a NC700X, but I bought my Kymco scoot used for $2500. I cant even find a NC700X DCT for double that price.

Touche. But just hypothetically for someone shopping for something new, why in the world would you spend 9-11k for a new Burgman, Tmax, etc when you could get an NC for thousands of dollars less?

I'd like to have a Nc700X DCT also, but when I add the cost of Saddlebags, TopCase, mounting kits for storage, larger windscreen, centerstand, labor to install all accessories and insurance. The cost are more on the Motorcycle than the Maxi Scooter, besides Scooters get discounted more too. Also don't forget the new Maxi Scooters have heated grips and seats included. Add the cost of adding heated grips to a DCT bike also.

If I compare any DCT bike to a used Maxi Scooter, I can get a used maxi scooter for a lot less. Even a 2012 Silversing is retailing for about $5500. Used Burgman 650 $2500+, used Silverwing $2500+, used 400 cc scooter $2500 and up. Used Vespa 250ie $2000+. Motorcycles have a lack of windprotection for the legs. I like DCT bikes, but Honda USA hasn't brought a DCT Maxi Scooter into the US yet.

You're free to love motorcycles more than Maxi Scooters, I've been on both without a car for the last decade. I choose maxi scooters for reasons already stated. I've been on county roads on my scooter, crossed rivers, among other adventures. Have lived with my Scooter and motorcyles in TX, OR, NM, HI and CO.

I'd like to see a comparison between the Suzuki Burgman 650 Exec and the Honda NC700 DCT.
