Serious question: are there any major differences between sport-tourers? At least on paper, they're all pretty close to the same.

On paper they may be similar but in real life they are a bit different. I don't know if you've ever experienced the BMW boxer growl or the Triumph triple shriek, they have a different feel than the typical UJM motor or the almost Accord like feel of the Honda V4. It's unfortunate that we rarely get to demo bikes here, the differences are noticeable in person more than on paper.

Nothing compares to the sound of a Triumph triple in anger and pulling hard.

Living in Pittsburgh with our tunnels, it's like a religious experience shrieking like a banshee through one of them.

I used to live in Pittsburgh. Never liked riding through the tunnels. Too loud.

Anyway, Triumph owners really seem to like their bikes, so they must be doing something right.
