Article - WVU Hospitals has 350 available positions, she said, including nursing, nursing support, clerical and service positions.
No surprise Morgantown is one of the best economies in the country.

If you are a college professor/instructor, or in the health care field, Motown has a few jobs. But in terms of most jobs that folks have, there isn't much in Motown (or anywhere in WV)

You are absolutely full of it. We have 4 pages of help wanted ads here on Sundays. They need virtually every kind of person around here, just like they do any place else. We are a major research center, have 2 Federal prisons in the area, a major pharmaceutical company, are national headquarters to two firms, NASA and the FBI nearby, and have every kind of position available for supporting a thriving and growing local economy. We do not need marine biologists here, that is true, but for most fields there is a need. Our economy is healthier than that of Winston Salem, NC, and since you like to tout the attributes of that area, that alone should tell you we are doing just fine here.

The second Dominion Post link is linked to the Lottery Results page.

The article mentioned the Fairmont General Hospital Chapter 11 filing. Any word on how many people currently employed there may be laid off or let go due to the upcoming restructuring?

We have 32,000 "permanent" residents in our city limits, an additional 25,000 students 10 months per year and an additional 10,000 students the other 2 months, and are just five miles from the Pittsburgh "metro" area which has 2 million people. We're 28 miles from Maryland, and just down the road from Fairmont and Clarksburg. Our county is closing in on 100,000 "permanent" residents, and might well be there in the next census, and geographically it is only half the size of Kanawha. We have very few welfare wonders here and a 4% unemployment rate with the highest per capita level of education in our state, and one of the 50 highest in the country.

LOL all you want. Our economy is one of the best anywhere.

Ok, well I think you are conflating low unemployment with good economy. I think larger cities with more jobs and companies have a better economy than a smaller town with less unemployment. A small town as less beaks to feed than a big town.

WV is 28 miles from Maryland but that is the western panhandle area where few people live. I would think it is at least 2 hours to hagerstown which doesn't have much.

I am surprised they don't just lump Morgantown in with Pittsburgh if it is only 5 miles outside the metro.

May I ask where you live prior to Motown?

Does the power company Dominion have some natural gas work there? I saw they had some jobs in a city named Elk something in WV a few months ago.

Why always the hating on Morgantown? Morgantown certainly has he medical end education fields, but there's much much more. There's NETL research labs. There are a few technology companies headquartered here. We have biotechnology firms. There are accounting firms and large law offices. We have foresters and truck drivers. We have power plant operators and natural gas drillers. We have a regional retailer headquarters. There are many many construction projects. There's hardly a position that can't be found here.
