That is really no surprise. The difference between the Morgantown hospital system and the difference between the next best system in the state is like the difference between a porsche and a turtle.

I'm not trying to start any infighting with this question, but I do have an honest curiosity. In your opinion, what is the next best medical center in the state? That place on the interstate near Clarksburg? or perhaps one of the hospitals in Charleston? I have no clue given that I'm not originally from WV.

I don't know. Compared to Morgantown none are worthy of consideration. It is like mount everest being the highest point, and then anthills being the next highest points. You wouldn't even be able to see them from the top of the mountain.

That's great news for WVU Hospitals and the people it serves. The question was asked what hospital is #2. According to this article, US News ranks CAMC in Charleston metro as #2. With 7 categories being ranked near the level of nationally ranked hospitals.

UHC in Bridgeport, Cabell-Huntington, and St Mary's were unranked in all categories. But all three are reputable places locally. Just not outstanding enough to earn national ranking or high performance scores.

If WVU-Hospitals are Mount Everest, then CAMC is Denali. Maybe not the highest peak, but is the highest in relief above its surroundings

Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV - US News Best Hospitals

No, all other hospitals arent mountains, or even hills. From the other insect mounds they can see each other but from the mountain of the morgantown healthcare system they are just invisible clumps of dirt a few feet high beneath our notice.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no rep points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Copying Billy Madison is not going to change the reality of the situation. Morgantown is the best hospital system in WV by far. Whatever #2 it is nowhere close to the morgantown hospitals. CharlestonA
MAY have the best hospital outside of Morgantown but Charleston is still an ant hill next to a mountain.

Actually, you are so far off base that its really sad that you believe the stuff you put in your posts.

WVU Hospitals did in fact score higher in more categories than CAMC. And can treat people with a wider array of specializations.

However, here are more facts from the rankings, mr facts man:

-None of the hospitals in WV even made the list for top regional hospitals because we don't have a metro area large enough to qualify.

-out if 66 qualified hospitals in WV, only CAMC and WVUH received any rankings. CAMC received rankings in 7 categories and WVUH in 12 categories.

-Charleston Area Medical Center is larger than WVU Hospitals in terms of number of hospital beds by almost 200 beds.

-CAMC performed vastly more inpatient surgeries than WVUH

-CAMC performed vastly more outpatient surgeries than WVUH

-CAMC had vastly more ER visits than WVUH.

So it appears that while WVUH specializes and is successful in more areas of healthcare. CAMC is more of a first response and basic health care center. And it clearly serves more people in WV

The people of WV should also be grateful in having WVUH, because it sounds like it is on par or at least comparable with some of the leading medical centers in larger cities like UPMC is in Pittsburgh.

Yes, WVU is a better hospital and we should be glad to have ONE good hospital. Imagine if CAMC was the best option .

BTW, quantity doesnt equal quality.
