Last night, a cop pulled me over for speeding. However, she didn't end up charging me for the speeding, but instead charged me for forgetting to bring my car registration papers. The ticket came out to a total of $56, and on the ticket, where it says how much points you lost, it was blank. Thus, if the portion of the ticket that says how much points I lost is blank, does that mean I didn't lose any points? The cop's English wasn't too good, so I didn't understand what she was getting at.

Also, a few months ago, when I was 22 years old, I had only 1 point left since I accumulated a total of 7 demerit points. I am now 23 years old, so does that mean I have 4 more points since those of 23-24 years of age must have a total of 12 demerit points to lose their license?

Thanks!

i'd imagine demerit points are only deducted for moving violations.
Try this .
Table des points d'inaptitude | Permis de conduire | SAAQ

I think you are probably right.

That said, he's 22-23 years old, lives in Quebec, and apparently can't speak enough French to a cop (or understand what he is saying) to save his own life.

Needless to say a few demerit points on his DL probably aren't his biggest problem in life!

Yes. You can lose 4 more points!!

By the way, if it isn't a wake-up call, I don't know what is.
- You think you may be 1 point short of losing your license
- You get caught for speeding (doh)... you dodge a bullet
- But your car registration papers weren't in the car??? Come on Drew, get back to Earth!!
