I looked up some stats and apparently Le Plateau is like the 5th most dense borough in all of NA, behind only a few parts of the NYC metro. And this is without tall buildings. I’ve always found this to be impressive.

Not surprising for Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, given that its mayor, from Luc Ferrandez, is one of the most ardently anti-car advocates in the city, province, and possibly the whole country.
Luc Ferrandez went so far as to announce the ban of private vehicles passing through the entirety of Mont Royal and reserving the roads up the mountain for (very athletic) cyclists only. IMO, went way too far and extreme given that only a handful of cyclists use the roads up at Mont Royal.
Also, I understand Plateau's desire to build a car-free environment, but before you do that, one has to improve public transit quality and quantity first. Le Plateau only has 1 STM Metro station in its boundaries (2 if you count Laurier) - Mont Royal Station on the Orange Line - and majority of residents often have to walk long distances before they can reach the Metro Station. Part of the reason why - despite its many appeals - I decided to not purchase property in the Plateau.
Love this standoff picture. Love all your pictures. The funny captions add a special touch. Only if I could give you one rep point for each picture. Thanks.
