SUSPECTED TRAIN ROBBER

The Kansas City, Kas., police last night arrested Clinton H Mack, who claims to be a bridge builder, for suspected complicity in the recent robbery of the express car on an outgoing Pittsburg & Gulf passenger train.
Mack lives at Second and Central streets, in Kansas City, Kas., and claims to be married. He was arrested at his home shortly before midnight and strongly protested his innocence, when charged with the robbery. He is about 26 years old and answers closely to the description of the robber with a gold filled tooth. He has resided at Second and Central streets but a short time and is not well known in Kansas City, Kansas. The name of Clinton H Mack is shown in the Kansas City, Kas., directory as a tinner for A.O. Stoeltzing, a dealer in stoves at 26 Central street. Mack's residence is given in the directory as Kansas City, Missouri.

Will Dimmitt, arrested on suspicion of being the other robber, is still kept in a cell at police headquarters. The police will swear out a warrant for him today on the charge of train robbing. Dimmitt was permitted yesterday to talk to Attorney Blake L Woodson, who he has retained to defend him. They could only talk in the presence of an officer.

FORGOT SHE KILLED MAN

Kansas City, Jan 4---A woman giving the name of Lillian McGill, 29 years old, today called at police headquarters and told a story of killing a man Sunday night, placing the body under her bed and forgetting about it until today when she started to sweep her room.
Patrolmen visited the room in a small hotel and found the unclothed body of a man about 25 years old just as the woman had described. The head was resting on two pillows and the body covered with blankets.
In a written statement the woman admitted killing the man. She said she only knew him as "Frank" and that he told her he was employed in a saloon.
They quarreled, she said, and he struck her, whereupon she procured a revolver from a dresser drawer and shot him 3 times in the head. She said she has been in a dazed condition for the past two days and insists that she forgot the tragedy entirely until today.

CAR IS STOLEN AND WRECKED

A Cadillac car was stolen at about 8 o'clock last night from George Scott, negro proprietor of a restaurant at the corner of Fifth and Walnut streets. The thief, however, was ill fated, for he ran the car into the curbing at the corner of William street and University avenue, tearing a wheel off and making it useless for further travel. The driver has made his escape and has not been found.
The car has been almost as great a jinx to its successive owners as the famous Hope Diamond. It was bought in 1916 by Blind Boone. Shortly after its purchase it was wrecked in a collision with a taxi while Boone was going to a concert. In 1918 Boone's chauffeur was on a joy ride when it turned turtle and was again wrecked. The car was later bought from Boone by Scott.

In 1912, 68 year old Cole Younger attended a William Jennings Bryan lecture at Lee's Summit and had his pocket picked of $95. He said he did not mind the loss of money, he just hated to be a victim.

SAY POSTMAN STOLE TURKEYS

The Boone County Circuit Court spent the entire morning hearing the case of the state against Virgil Woods, who is alleged to have received and sold stolen property. According to evidence brought out by Ruby Hulen, prosecuting attorney, Woods, a rural mail carrier living near Harrisburg, took five turkeys belonging to Mrs. Mamie Wilhite, who lives just across the road from Woods, and sold three of them at a grocery store in Harrisburg on December 20. The others were said to have been found later at the Woods home.
Woods declared on the stand that he knew nothing about the theft, putting all blame on his wife and little daughter. He is alleged to have told the Harrisburg constable that his little daughter brought the turkeys home, and that if his wife was guilty he supposed that she would be convicted.
