I dont mean to come off sounding all negative and grouchy (although I can blame the weather) but what is up with the weather in Minnesota this year???
I have spent a majority of my life living in this state (29 years in Minnesota) and I cant recall any other year that has been so cold! This summer was like a long spring. I kept thinking to myself, OK, well with this mild summer I'm sure we will have a nice fall, but NO! 20's and 30's this week and SNOW!! I think its supposed to be warmer in Alaska than here this week.
Say it aint so! Dont get me wrong, I love this state and the weather 3/4ths of the year and most of my dear friends and family live up here, but this is ridiculous. I dread to think of what this winter has in store for us. Does anyone remember a year colder than this or am I just going crazy? What is causing it? Do you think it will become a permant signature of our climate?

Global warming is a fact but an overall avg. for the Planet.
Upper midwest liable to be cooler.

I actually felt we had great summer weather. Very little rain, temps in the 70s and 80s, some 90s, and a beautiful September. In the east they had the summer of rain.

I agree--I think we had a beautiful summer. Most daytime temps were in the mid 70s - low 80s, with hardly any rain (actually we had in drought conditions) and lots of sun. If you're a beach person and wanted 90+ temps, I can see your point, but for those of us who like to bike and play tennis in the summer--it was perfect. Another beneit was that I only had to run our AC units about 2-3 nights during the entire summer.

Yeah, I'm not trying to get into a global warming debate. Actually, my theory is that since the oceans are getting warmer it is causing the jet stream to go further north along the west costs and dive further south in the Midwest. I'm just afraid this might be a permanent trend. If it gets any colder next year, we can kiss a decent crop growing season good bye (we barely made it this year). It would be a bad situation for alot of people, not just because of the uncomfortable weather. Were supposed to be in the upper 60's right now where I live, but most of the week we will barely make 40

Yeah, I agree there. But my point is this whole year, we have been below normal (granted I like 90 with a dew point of 70). Has it happened before that we have been so far below normal for such a long period of time?

September was the warmest Sept on record. Yes, it has been cool this year, natural fluctuations in weather.

Isn't is annoying that people can't talk about the weather without it turning into a political debate. What has happened to my country?

The worst part is that we probably wont see warm weather again until April. A very depressing and scary thought.
