Well, I think when people say that, they mean in the 48 states that aren't seperated by a big body of water or Canada

It goes without saying that most of Alaska is a lot colder. Brrrrr

Most of Alaska is colder, which is why it is the place many people think of when cold weather comes to the brain. Now if it is the lower 48, then Minnesota will come to mind among other places.

Very true. Other than Alaska though, I think people have it engraved in their heads: MINNESOTA = COLD. They forget North Dakota, Wisconsin, etc. Haha.

KSTP reported Minneapolis went the entire month of July with out hitting 90.

Only the 8th time this has happened in Minneapolis since records started being kept.

I remember that weather pattern well. Cold feels the same to me regardless of temp when it gets lower than -30F.

As someone who has worked outside my entire life. I sure can feel a 10 degree difference in temp ( many times even a 5 degree difference) before I even check the thermometer.

Your statement reminds me of a radio announcer on a Nashville radio station.
They were having a stretch of cold weather and she kept saying how cold it was in Nashville( +10 that night) The other announcer asked if she would rather be in Minnesota cuz we were -30 that same night.

She replied once it gets as cold as +10, there really is no difference how much colder it gets cuz it feels the same.

Your post reminded me of her.

I have experienced -42------(hope I never do again)
I have never experienced -60, and hope I never will.
