Ely, MN information needed, move in my future!

I love Ashland as well. We have a cabin not far from there, and we seriously looked at moving up to N. Wisconsin. As I posted in one of the Duluth threads though, the job market up there (including the Twin Ports) is just not there.

I've spent enough time in the area though to know that the locals aren't exactly fans of the Northland students and faculty...

As for the resorts in and around Ely... Yikes. It's pretty much all students, and when you work out the pay, it's a lot less than minimum wage for seasonal work. One of my best friends worked at a fishing resort every summer in college, and the pay was terrible. Yeah, you got room and board, and there's not much to spend money on, so you had no expenses, but when you figured out the hourly wage, it was awful. He basically did it because he loves the area (still does - has a place there now), but it's no way to make a living as an adult.
