I probably should have focused more on quality not quantity. I didn't do a lot of watering though.

Potential for a blizzard end of week. (Oct 11th) "Potential" doesnt mean guaranteed. Models are showing a big storm with enough cold air around. Exact location unknown

blizzard?

That means high winds (35+ mph, sustained for hours) and snow. Literally, that's the meteorological definition.

Googling, I see no models indicating anything remotely close to a blizzard as a possibility - just some chance of some minor slushy melt-on-contact snow if the temperatures break right. The wind forecasts are nowhere near what would constitute a blizzard.

Note:
The earliest recorded blizzard in Minnesota occurred on October 16, 1880, in the western part of the state.

Yup, that's the definition.

Here you go. If you know how to read models go to Hour 120 on the GFS (Friday Night). (Euro also has it but not available to public). Reason it would be a blizzard is because the Upper Low will slow down the surface storm which will intensify. Location of heaviest axis still unknown. (We'll know more in a couple days). I assume it will be Northern MN based on Climo.

Have a source for that? I love stats.

Snowiest October was 1991 for Minneapolis with 8 inches. I think MSP is too far south with this one.
Snowiest for International Falls was 1917 with 10.5". They might beat that!

All models have it.

Ben shows the German model. Watch Western MN be on the heavy side. Exact location still unknown but this is gonna be incredible to watch. Cold should stick around a few days too

Also... I saw what a deep fresh snowpack did in Montana last week so expect temps to be frigid if thats the case.

Latest Euro model misses Minnesota. Gonna be close! 1-2 feet likely in Dakotas with drifts up to 5 feet in spots.

Big Daddy Blizzard. Click his blog he has a video explaining it with some maps. Henry keeps it simple. Shows the snow totals as well.
