Hey Guys,

Is there an adult ice hockey league in or around st paul downtown for guys who want to play casually at an intermediate level? A beer league or anything like that? I know there is one in Edina, but I'd prefer something closer to STP. Thanks...

Check online with the various towns you would be open to playing in and see if they have anything listed with their park and recreation department.

Man I wish I could help since I grew up on the East Side and was a pretty decent hockey player myself. My friends and I have thought at times about joining one as well.

If all else fails, play in the Pond Championships this Winter and you will run into all kinds of guys who would have good info for you.

Also Google "Minnesota hockey forum" and you will get some good hits/info on all things local hockey.

I play in the Minnesota Wild Adult Hockey League at the Superrink in Blaine. It has its flaws, but it's a decent league overall. They have leagues for 4 different skill levels (A, B, C and D).

I've also subbed a few times in a league down in Cottage Grove. That league was much smaller and has mostly former HS/College players (probably comparable to the B level at the MWAHL league).

Good luck.

Who would be in the 'A' league? What skill level?

I play in the AHA (Adult Hockey Association) in the Twin Cities and have a blast. Cost a little bit more than the other leagues, but we play 20 games plus playoffs...etc.

We also have a pick up game located mostly in Oakdale (and right now during the summer) at Wakota in South St. Paul. We have from beginner to players that have played in minor leagues... feel free to get in touch with me and I'll give you the details...we are always looking for more players to come out.
