I don't know the other areas or, to the extent I do know them, I don't like them. In this particular case, I do think the OP confined themselves to a very limited area with the request for a 20-25 minute commute. I think that everyone who has driven around the airport at rush hour knows that you aren't going too far with that limit.
The difference is that you don't have the "moderator" title. When people see that they assume that the person will provide a more unbiased perspective and have a stronger background on the subject. I'm convinced that just isn't the case here.

It should probably be revealed to the OP that there is going to be a very marginal amount of difference found in all of those suburbs. If I didn't see city name signs on the road I could easily mistake any one of those places for the other....in other words, there is nothing magical about the Apple Valley, Rosemount, Eagan areas that you can't find in any of those other places. I could probably add Lakeville, Farmington, Inver Grove Heights, Cottage Grove and a dozen other places to that list too.
Oh, get over it already-You hate the suburbs, we GET that, stop commenting on posts about the suburbs then . Having spent ZERO time in any of these places, your opinion really doesn't matter now does it, and just for your information, I don't ALWAYS recommend the south suburbs....

Quit stating lies, you know that I've lived the majority of my life in the suburbs...so yes, I've spent more than my fair share in them.

Yeah you're right, sometimes you recommend Marshall, Northfield, Hastings, Stillwater, Moundsview or Mahtomedi. I think that pretty much covers the only areas that you recommend over and over again.

I always thought you were kind of a Rosemount cheerleader. That doesn't bother me, but I see you recommend the south suburbs all the time. I just figured it was for the reasons I mentioned... that's what you know and like.

Same thing for City haters, if you don't like it then stop commenting

That's quite an over generalizing claim to make about someone you don't personally know...

Hopkins used to be a small town, still holds the annual Raspberry Festival, etc.

I would vote for Rosemount; it's very nice and has an out of the way feel but it's close enough to Minneapolis that you will have easy access to everything.

How's the commute from Lakeville? We've found a few nice townhomes. I've heard it's a nice area, too.

Depending on where int Lakeville it wouldn't be bad but I would try to avoid 35W and use Cedar or 35E as much as possible. The 35W/494 interchange is messy.
