Well, I have lived in Brown Deer for 6 years so I can give you some insight.

First of all, Brown Deer is a very middle class area where a lot of younger families and some older people live. It isn't ghetto at all here. It has a somewhat suburban vibe but youre also very close to the city....15-20 mins from downtown, the east side. You wont need to park on the street if you buy a house, we all have garages and driveways. If you live in milwaukee or tosa you might only be able to park on the street.

I don't know if you have kids, but the BD schools arent stellar but aren't horrible either. If your kids want to succeed there, they can...but they're gonna see a fight or two while at school.

Winter is killer, and I absolutely can't deal with it. 22 winters have taken their toll on me and im searching for a warmer climate (going to AZ in may). The worst part isnt the snow, although its a pain to shovel your driveway at 6am so you can drive to work. The worst part is the short days, the cloudy days, and just how long the cold weather lasts.

And to be completely honest about the crime situation....In my time here in BD I have had my car broken into, and my house broken into twice. To be honest it was because some guys I went to highschool with were jealous of the girl I was dating and jsut wanted to mess with me, so it wasnt just a random crime. Other than that crime isn't a concern really in BD itself.

I'm moving from Florida to Milwaukee and I can't wait for the winters!

That's what its about people, having a positive attitude about it. Whats the point of being negative? It gets you nowhere.

Now, I can totally understand that after 5, 10, 20+ years of it, it may become annoying. But hey, I'm 24, just graduated college, got a great job offer, and plan on traveling to see all 50 states before I die....SO BRING IT ON WISCONSIN!!

& did somebody really compare Wisconsin to Iraq???

Hope your move went well!
