I may get the opportunity to work downtown. I've found some very good suggestions on parking structures downtown. My hours would be anywhere from 8-5:30. I may have some late nights...not many. I wanted to know how safe are the parking structures downtown? Has anyone heard of any incidents that I should be aware of?
I have parked in the structures into the wee hours after bar time and never had a problem, just use common sense and take note of your surroundings and you'll be fine.
The only thing I've ever heard are the random car break-ins, theft, that sort of thing. Just be smart, don't leave a bag full of electronics or something out in the open...that sort of thing. Most have 24/7 security or at least cameras around which seem to deter most crime.
I think they are mostly pretty safe. I used to park in the Bradley Center garage and the MATC garages all the time. The worst thing was a slight urine smell and occasionally a car would get a window smashed but jsut be smart and don't leave your gps or fancy gadgets where a thief can see them.
Most parking structures are patrolled and have security cams. The real question is cost. Even with monthly leasing, most structures will charge you extra to park there after hours. If there is an event at night that extra money may be high. Street parking is free after 6pm at most locations and is mostly safer.
Well, I wouldn't park at the O'Donnell structure. Occasional concrete pieces may fall on your head
