You could not get more agreement out of me if you wished!

How do you feel about the Chrysler/Ford/GM employees who are intimidated into subsidized leases of crap? Oh, that's right, they work there, they should have pride in Chrysler Sebrings and Saturn IONs!

Japaneese (*sp) cars are cheap and they have high gas mileage

American cars are expensive, are made of plastic, yet still get no better of gas mileage than maybe 25 mpg.

Michigan is broke, because no one else in America wants American cars either. As it is, Chrysler just sold its company to some Japaneese company, or at least a large portion of it (this is what I was told). I know for a fact that next year, Chrysler will be debuting a Japaneese car that costs something like $7,000 brand new.

And, America is self destructing! We pay our workers too much and are too lax about allowing companies to obtain their labor in other countries. Thus, companies go off-shore, and Michiganders loose jobs!

And again, Japaneese cars are CHEAP and GOOD ON GAS; thus, when michigan is down and out (out of work), we buy Japaneese!

-make sense?

Both myself and my hubby drive Toyota and I have had several Toyotas and Hondas in the past. I am a MI native and come from GM family. My family won't jump on board with the Yotas, but some of the family friends who also work at GM *wish* they had their own but know they can't park it in the GM parking lot. Overall, Yotas / Hondas have a higher resale value, are made better, and are just as much American made these days. I have never had any issues with vandalism and/or occurances due to having a Japanese designed vehicle. I have had vandalism on my trucks (Dodge Dakota, Chevey 1/2 ton).

Has anybody actually read some of the earlier posts on this thread? Particularly the ones by iamweasel?

Ford Fusion: transmission made in Japan [Fusion is related to the Mazda 6]
Ford Mustang: transmission made in Germany

Think Ferd first ... they're number one in outsourcing. The Fusion is built in Mexico, with an engine built in Cleveland. (That's outsourcing to anyone from Michigan!)

We drive a Honda and a Nissan and never think about it.

What's funny is that there are still the "Buy American Cars" people out there, generally UAW workers, and yet they get the GM employee discount for themselves and all their friends, brothers, cousins, sister's fiance's boyfriend, and everyone else in town, especially in towns like Flint and Saginaw, where every car on the road is a GM. So in essence, they're telling the rest of us to buy American and pay full price for an inferior product, yet they certainly won't.

I wish I understood the appeal of the Toyota Camry. My wife and I have test-driven them several times and did not like the interiors and ride AT ALL.

Nice.

Why are we wasting our time in this thread? There are better things to discuss in regards to Michigan. If "Fat Jerk" (a distant relative of the family) thinks we are going to pay full price for an Impala, yeah right! Give us your discount code and maybe we will think about it.

I like what Toyota does for the Ann Arbor economy and my stock portfolio, but the cars are not terribly exciting. Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and Subaru offer great product. Yes, it is perfectly safe to drive a Honda or Nissan in Michigan, but the dealer network is not as comprehensive even as it is in Illinois or other Midwestern states. Get out of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana and you can see a lot of exciting cars ........... well, maybe just more Camrys.

I spotted TWO Acura NSX (semi-exotic) sports cars in downtown Indy two weeks ago. I don't recall the last time I saw an exciting cars in Detroit, unless it was Acuras and BMWs at the auto show. Downtown Detroit sucks and the Big Three are dying. Good riddance!

Lived in michigan all my life and never seen any one get hasseled over a *** car. I used to get a ribbing for driving my nissian to deer camp in the mid 90s and half the camp was union auto workers, I told them when the big three made a car worth owning I would buy one.

Thanks for answering my question, apparently nobody has read the earlier posts. I'll agree with you on one thing, we are wasting our time on this thread because almost all the stuff on this page has already been written about pages ago.
