It's like the politicians who just give a "family values" speech then hours later (maybe minutes) they're on their way to see the mistress. I guess it's "I'm so sorry" in front of the camera then celebrations and gifts behind blacked out windows when the cameras are gone. Mrs. Snyder has one thing to celebrate this year: She doesn't have lead poisoning. Many in Flint would love to be in that situation.
It also sounds like Snyder rented the entire restaurant and "blacked out the windows," according to a local Ann Arbor blogger:

Nothing says you care about the people of Flint like hosting an opulent party for your friends in downtown Ann Arbor behind blacked out windows

The City of Lansing (not the legislature in Lansing) has stepped up to provide technical support for a full replacement of lead water lines in Flint. Apparently Lansing is almost finished replacing the 13,500 or so lead service lines it had, starting in 2004.

Utility: Flint’s lead lines could be replaced in a year

Now we just need to find the funds to get er done.

It's a metaphor. I was equating the hiring of two big PR firms to hiring two of the best attorneys in the country, when supposedly you didn't do anything wrong? The governor's office already has a large communications team, why pay top dollar for more PR people? If you haven't done anything wrong?

As was stated when the hiring occurred, hiring independent PR firms allows the state employees to stay focused on helping deal with helping Flint residents, instead of having all of their time taken up by dealing with the media circus that has been created over this issue. Not sure why that is so hard to understand, it's not costing the taxpayers any additional money, so what's the problem? Better then having state employees deluged with requests for sound bites, etc. by the national media.

Report: Gov. Snyder hires public relations firm in wake of Flint water crisis | MLive.com

As far as comparing the hiring of a PR firm by Politicians to being analogous to hiring an attorney, sorry that is laughable. Politicians regularly hire PR firms, there is nothing nefarious or inculpatory about doing so. If Snyder hires a criminal defense attorney, there might be a red flag but that is hardly the case in this situation.

According to Dr. Marc Edwards, in a Michigan public radio appearance, replacing the lead service lines without a well thought out plan could be a major mistake and could cause more damage then it prevents.

It's doubtful that Flint can even identify which lines need to be replaced, since the City never complied with the EPA regulation that required Cities to identify and map lead service lines. Compliance with that regulation was required by 1992. Flint is a little late in doing so.

Well as long as Snyder's communications guy Dave Murray gave that answer, then it must be solid. They could have hired 20 interns, if it's just to field emails and phone calls. Last time I checked, Snyder and his administration have given hardly any information or soundbites to the media. You can pay a bunch of MSU students $10/hour to say "no comment."

Michigan's citizens are not as dumb as you and Snyder's team seem to think.

Keep it up: "No we can't, it can't be done, just "relax" people of Flint, you're all too stupid to keep proper records." So classy.

Classy? The truth is that the City of Flint failed to comply with Federal Law and then fudged the lead testing for compliance with the Federal Lead and Copper rule, which may have contributed to this whole situation and you want to worry about classy? Apparently you are Ok with incompetency, as long as it can't be pointed back at the Governor. Funny that.
