Westwood and Millwood are nice areas with tons of starter homes you should be able to find anything you like right now. Portage is very nice and has lots of options. What kind of things are you looking for? What's your price range?

Westwood is great as long as you stay west of Dartmouth Ave. East of Dartmouth and it becomes sketchy . . . I have friends who live on the east side of Westwood, and they have been broken into several times.

Milwood is a nice area, but declining somewhat. It's not a dangerous area, and it's a good place to buy a starter home.

Portage is the best area on your list. It's a nice, good, safe suburb and will probably bring the highest property values.

I'm jealous of you right now . I've been wanting to move back to Kalamazoo, but nothing has worked out.

Thanks to all. Becuz of existing house, I am lookking <120K, and have ID'd 40 or so possibilities, mostly foreclosures. City taxes very high. heading up for a house huntingt trip in the next couple weeks. Really like Westwood wqhen I was up there, but prices tend to be higher for the smaller properties. Need something that can be closed quickly and moved into w/o xtrensive repairs.
