Like in probaly any other school in the nation. I went to Oklahoma and there were lots of students from South America that had people that would guide them and help them learn english but still spoke horrible english, I had friend that nobody ever understood, but today he is a mayor of city in South America.

yes they do charge an extra $300 for online and over $100 for labs. How is that school a good value not even the private school I attend now charges all those fees FIU does.

Are you kidding? FIU is one of the best bargain universities in the country. For a public university, it's one of the cheapest in the country, and you're getting a lot for your money. Try going to another state and see how much more you'll be paying there. FIU is great bargain and a great university.

I attended UNF for one summer session and I would say that school is the best bargain in the country. Private school atmosphere with state school price.

With lots of potheads and surfers... what a great crowd. No offense, but it's UNF.

every school has those kind of students even FIU. I feel like UNF was money well spent on the other hand FIU was a waste of money and I regreted it.

Maybe so, but I bet it's not a 'business' like it is at FIU. The point that I was trying to make was that English proficiency is not only a low priority, but that the proliferation of students who don't speak English well at my school, especially in the school of buiness, has gotten out of hand. If the school of business is supposed to be the shining star on the left breast of FIU's curriculum, why are the standards so low for English proficiency. Maybe nobody cares? The context of FIU's south campus location in one of the poorer transient areas of Miami caters to this pandemic I believe. Usually urban universities (public or private) are located in pockets of wealth, not poverty.

It would be much easier for someone who was trying to learn English to move to a place like Oklahoma, where they might have a hard time fitting in at first, but eventually they would speak good english, because NOBODY else speaks Spanish. That feat would be impossible in Miami, where the temptation to speak the native tongue would make it difficult to practice English.
