Maybe it was a Swiss Chalet at one point but I do remember it being a Steak and Ale for sure.

100% positive it was a Steak and Ale. If it was a Swiss Chalet it was probably before. It's been a Sports Grill for years now. Not sure when or for how long it was anything Turkish. I missed ever seeing that. Are you sure you're not thinking of Ankkar? Close by but not the location of the Sports Grill.

My brother also confirmed it was a Swiss Chalet and an acquaintance of his worked there and he ate there when it was a Swiss Chalet.

I recall it due to the unusual exterior design. Spires

I guess it was a Swiss Chalet and then a Steak and Ale or visa versa. I know for a fact that at one time it was a Steak and Ale.

As a kid I remember a swiss chalet until maybe 1978? The building was put up when I was in first grade, around the same time the 874 was being built, 1973? There was a Steak and ale there for sure from 1980 till they eventually went out of business and the building was in foreclosure after the last real estate bubble popped.

I was in the Cutler Ridge Mall again and had some memories flood back as I saw the original Sears still looks the same with the auto repair center sitting there to the side....Sadly the mall inside does not at all remind me of my 80s youth of that grand gray stone mall interior. Post Andrew it was sold at least twice, and the recent owners seem to be doing things on the cheap...

I was just looking for this thread to reminisce but didn't realize it had gotten to so many pages! Wow! I know I've missed a lot here. Going a few pages back I see several of you thinking Publix isn't that great anymore. That's a shame to hear that. We used to go to the one on Monza Avenue in Coral Gables. When I visited some years back (5 maybe) it seemed quite packed in there, not roomy at all. I never remembered it being that way in the 80s and 90s. Publix has moved into North Carolina, where I live now. I think this is the farthest north it's got stores. The one I have gone to in Cary, NC is nothing like the Publixes in South Florida. It's a mega-sized store and although I enjoy going there to pick up some Cuban bread and pastelitos that I miss so much, other than that I don't go there very often.

Does Miami have a Wegman's? I read that Wegman's is coming to North Carolina, and according to the business reports, it's supposed to be the number one grocer, better than Publix. I'm looking forward to going when it opens and seeing if they're right.

I still think that Publix has the best bakery of any store - Kroger's, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Albertson's, and Giant Eagle too - all the stores I've shopped at where I've lived.
