i am having a tough time deciding where to stay on the mass pike for my work in springfield. i have checked out a few apt places in sturbridge and charlton, so that i am closer to the pike and can drive to cambridge or boston more conveniently for weekends to meet my family and friends. i saw in the google map, the places are about 40 miles( from charlton) to where i work in springfield. can anyone suggest if it is a comfortable commute, esp if i take the mass pike...would really appreciate suggestions... any other places that is closer to mass pike for comfortable commute to springfield and also a convenient travel to boston or cambridge ?????

I'll stand by the opinion that your better option is Sturbridge. That is for a variety of reasons. Primarily the exit/entrance to the pike is in town. There are also more options for shopping and dining in Sturbridge. Charleton is fine is you're looking for a more rural appeal and don't mind the 10-20 minute drive to Sturbridge. The other option in Charleton for commuting either way is to enter The Pike in Auburn.
