I'm not saying google isnt a good place to work...I know people who live in cambridge and work there...but if i were further out no it would not be worth it to me to have to commute in to be able to work there at this point in life.
It's not about what you want or what you would do. None of this is a statement or condemnation of your personal employment or work-from-home status.

lol ok...well we've been having this argument about WFH for months. You are against WFH for whatever reason but you also seem to want to stop the spread of covid, no? More people WFH will stop the spread of covid.

This is an argument? You asked why Google doesn't have to be flexible with employees, I told you why, and now you want to make this an argument?

Someone can be in favor of WFH (I'm remote myself) while still understanding and stating that most people won't get that option in the long-term. It's not personal, and was never personal. It's not an argument. It's not about what we want or what we want others to have. It's about what employers are going to do. That's it.

The biggest benefit of working at Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc. is having it on your CV. For many, working at those places is a stepping stone to bigger opportunities. It's the old "if you can make it there...." mantra.

Meh...I guess I've been living in Boston too long. I know many people who have worked at those places and they aren't all that or doing anything amazing.

Im trying to talk my parents out of moving back to Boston.. the prices are insane.

Are these prices at risk of crashing if there was a total housing mark collapse?

Of course, there is always that risk. That's why you don't buy anywhere where you don't tend to remain at least 10 years, and are comfortable with the payment. But if that's where they "want" to live (long term), and can afford it without making huge sacrifices, then why not? I cannot emphasize enough that real estate is a place to live, not something one should ever count on making money off of.

Well, see I think it would be 3-6 years for them.

Basically the pandemic and uber-appreciation explosion has made them consider everywhere.

Yeah 3-6 years is definitely shaky in an overinflated market like this one. In 2010, it would have been fine.

I'm curious about this. Can you show a photo or point to a site that has an example of this?
