I'm moving to Lakeville, MA early February. Im moving with my family including 2 kids 9th & 2nd grader.
I tried searching a few places but don't find many good options nearby.
We have currently shortlisted Hopkinton, MA which is 50 min. drive from Lakeville, MA. But has excellent elementary & High schools.. and seems to have decent mix races.
Can someone please suggest any other place besides Hopkinton as with this option office drive time will be good 50 min. without traffic. im not sure about the traffic during office hours .
Besides this, we are looking for 2bed apartment for rent in range $1800 - 2000(is this a good amount or less).
Request quick response since we don't have enough time considering a move by 1st week of February.
Indian communities will be small, although there are a sprinkling here and there. Mansfield, Easton, Foxboro, and Franklin are places that come to mind if you don't want to drive all the way to Hopkinton.
I'm not familiar with the South Shore, but I do know that there's a Patel Brothers (famous Indian grocery chain) in North Attleboro. That would imply that there's a decent density of desis around that vicinity. And it's much closer to Lakeville than Hopkinton...
It seems insane to drive all the way from Hopkinton when you can find much more affordable housing in Lakeville and have a 10 minute drive to work.
He's looking for an Indian community. Not sure there really is any around there? I don't think he should have to all the way to Hopkinton, though. That does seem crazy.
The problem with Lakeville is that any Indian community is going to mean commuting from a much higher housing cost town in the metro Boston job market. If apartment price is $2,000, there's going to be an enormous automobile commuting cost layered on top of it. Even with an econobox, you have to assume 30 cents per mile real costs. It also means a lot of soul-crushing winter commutes.
Me? If it's the I-495 part of Lakeville on the Middleboro line, I'd start by looking at Marion since it has the best elementary school in the South Coast and the regional middle & high schools are strong. A 20-ish minute commute from an affluent town where you're not paying Boston rents.

The new construction townhomes have a considerable Indian population, Ashland too.
And Ashland has one of the best-known Hindu temples in the area (although the OP doesn't state his/her religion)
And Westborough (maybe north) has one of the few Jain temples.
I still wouldn't commute all the way to Lakeville though
