LOVE the slate grey house in Salem! I really need to get up there. And the "quaint" town is EXACTLY what I had in my mind of what all NE towns looked like before I moved here.. sadly, most of them dont look like that

Well, certainly not in eastern MA. But most small towns in New England, especially up north, could probably pass for being stuck sometime between 1800 and 1850. Drive around the Monadnock Region in NH or pretty much anywhere in Vermont...

Took a trip to Rockport & Halibut Point State Park today. Here are some shots I took, the quaint and charming Rockport first:

Flora is still rather brown, but it was a beautiful day and I was impressed with Halibut Point State Park:

I took plenty more, which you can view here:

I'm not sure why there is no pic above...

Anyhow, I went to the Cape this weekend. I believe these were taken in or around Truro.

Many of the towns in the Monadnock region are becoming more economically depressed IMHO. Some of the towns exude the New England charm while others exude more of an Appalachia feel overall. This is indicative of the demographics that differ between towns.

So how's it coming along in Oakland? We're actually going the in the opposite direction. Leaving here next spring and heading to the New England Coast. Depending on my job, I will have to choose North Shore (Maine, NH, or North of Boston) or South Shore, MA (New Bedford area or Plymouth).
