Hi, I'm trying to find afforable apartments in the 495 area that are in safe neighborhoods, that are not to far west. I keep seeing prices for ayer and acton and my budget seems to fit well with it. ( 500-600) a month.
Does anyone have any opinions on these neighborhoods, as to their crime rate and if it is safe. I currently live in lawrence and i want to get out of here. I don't want to live in lowell or any of it's surronding towns.
Acton is pretty quiet and has a great school system (if that is important).
$500-600 though? Is that shared? I know those areas are relatively cheaper, but still - $500-600 a month for an apartment, even a studio, seems really cheap. Be careful.
This is absurd. 500-600 will get you a room in someone else's apartment in Acton, but it's not going to get you your own place. Someone is scamming you.
Edited to Add: But yes, to answer the question, Acton is very nice.
Acton is very quiet, safe. You may be able to share with one other person in the range you are looking for. You may be able to find a rare studio in the $950/mo range.
I like Acton, it's got everything you need and it's clean, quiet, and safe. Not sure what you'll find for $600, but if you can find a place in Acton for that price grab it!
Maybe a studio in Ayer. Nothing wrong with Ayer, especially the downtown and train availability. It's just not a fancy town and certainly doesn't have the cachet of Acton.

Ayer does have the best Korean food in New England, which is nice if you're from California!
