I don't think I'd call either diverse. Saugus is probably 2/3 Italian and 1/3 Irish, with a small but growing Brazilian pop. I'd be willing to bet Peabody is similar.

I grew up in Saugus, and we always played Peabody in sports. Granted I'm going back 20 years now, but both schools were pretty white when I was there.

Saugus and Peabody are very similar in most categories. The homes in both towns have small beginner homes priced good and go all the way up to million dollar estates. Like previous poster described both are primarily middle class white blue collar people. I would rank Saugus and Peabody just below Melrose and Wakefield and above cities like Revere and Malden. They both give great bang for your buck in the real estate department. I live in Saugus and love it with 2 kids in the elementary school system. My one concern for Saugus would be the need for a new high school.

I would have to disagree, besides Lynn. Saugus share borders with Lynnfield, Melrose, Wakefield which are nice towns. There are small parts that border Malden and Revere also. Like any town there are nicer sections than others. There are million dollar homes spread out in a lot of different areas of Saugus

I vote for Peabody versus Saugus. More of a smaller town feeling.

Except that it's one of the largest school districts in Greater Boston (6,000 students -same as Cambridge, and more then twice then Saugus)
