I have been finding some good townhomes for rent in the piney orchard area of odenton. Any comments on the area? It seems nice from what I have seen online, but should we check out other areas around it like laurel, crofton?

That depends on what you are looking for. I don't live far from Odenton. Piney Orchard is one of those planned communities with a mix of housing, including townhomes, single-family, condos, maybe even apartments. It appears to be a nice, clean neighborhood. It is centrally located between Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, DC. It's an easy commute to Columbia, too. A lot of people in this area are transient in that they are either in the military stationed at Ft. Meade or work for the Federal Government. Crofton is not far at all from Piney Orchard. There's a newish, very nice strip center near Piney Orchard with lots of different shops, restaurants, and other services.

All that said, Anne Arundel County is a bit strange in that there's a weird variety of homes. There will be a trailer park next to a subdivision of $750k, single-family homes across the street from an asphalt plant right down the road from 1950's-era bungalows with postage-stamp lots. Piney Orchard is its own little pocket of newness. The weird mix of homes is on the fringes, but all in all it is a pleasant area. It is relatively safe. I am not sure what school district it is in though.

Need to know more? Tell me what you are looking for.

You should always look at all your options, because you will be stuck wherever you choose for a year, and you want to make sure you are comfortable. Loook for places that offer amenities that you like, look at your commuting time. If you need some help, will be glad to assist.
