Those hot dogs on the rollers that sit there all day must be company policy.

I remember a long time ago going to a 7-11 most mornings for a donut and coffee; the donut was $.25 and so was the coffee.

When I had moved to Maine years ago I came across a Cumberland Farms and thought it very odd that a gas station had the word Farms in its name. I thought the name was in reference to Cumberland County, ME., but apparently the chain is from Cumberland, Rhode Island and dates back to the 1940s. I learned that it began as an actual farm, though, which later partnered with an oil company and gained rights to sell gasoline. So the name makes sense here.

For Royal Farms, was there ever an actual farm?

And I swear I have seen other gas stations with "Farms" in their names. Must be an East Coast thing.

As for their chicken, I think it can pass but I do know a number of people who really do love it.

For the franchise, I was not aware there was such a shortage as I see just as many Royal Farms' as I do Sheetz or WaWa's, as far as I can tell. Sheetz seems to be more of a highway thing and Royal Farms seems more of a city thing. The closest WaWa I can think of is about 20 miles from my house. It also seems like I see more Exxon's, Shell's and independent gas stations than I do RF, Sheetz, and WaWa combined.

My Grand Father drove a milk truck for High's from the late 30's until the early 80's. Two of my uncles worked for them. It wasn't a very good place to work, but it was easy.

Really? Honest question ...where are they?

I looked them up and they are based in New England and Florida ......I didn't realize it.

They closed them all down here. My two older kids still remember stopping at the one we had and I'd buy them Slushies after school. That's every day of 30 years ago.

I miss a couple flavors of ice cream they had.

I remember when High's stores sold primarily milk, in glass gallon jugs. In southeastern Baltimore county, most High's are gone replaced by immigrants running "Quik Marts" or some such name.

High's is known for ice cream and milk. Did it at one time own and operate a dairy farm?
