Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a nice, quality apartment for a single lady. There's a new development called Riverwatch Apartments in Elkridge by Habitat America. Does anyone know how that area is? It's near the Volleyball House. Does anyone know if that area will hear airplane noises, or does the river nearby smell weird? It's supposed to be a mixed-income development...does that mean I might live near sketchy men?

I'm familiar with most of Elkridge since I lived in Orchard Club briefly and I frequent the area, but I'm not that familiar with the area near that part of Elkridge. Any thoughts?

Jill

I believe it means that they have to accept section 8 tenants. You take your chances with who the neighbors are.

Look at the street-view of 5673 Furnace Avenue. I see a food pantry, a house with junk truck, a site with huge mounds of dirt and an industrial building. I don't see a quality location where I would want to live. It might develop into a nice place, but I would wait until it is complete.

I'm not familiar with the area! Although very close to me.. But from what I understand mixed income can be section 8 and affordable income housing( discounted but not section 8). Either way, it's should be less of the the general population. Many of the apt complexes have to rent out a percentage to those categories.. Like 10%. And they typically go to women with children! But weird men are everywhere.lol. I can't think of anywhere in Elkridge is that I thought smelled bad from the river. And the airplanes route change every few years. Go check it out... Especially at night.

Street view must be out of date. The apartment complex is apparently being built at the site of the company with the huge mounds of dirt.

My impression of Furnace Avenue is that it's not a bad place, though I'll admit that I haven't been down there in a while. The Elkridge Furnace Inn is nearby; it's a good restaurant in an old historic building.

Yes, you'll hear the airplanes; but it's not constant. They do vary their flight paths. Also, planes more typically take off in that direction, and thus get higher quicker than when they're landing.

Here's the website for River Walk Apts:
